GET FACT UP #32 TRANSCRIPT
- Good day, Australia. I'm Chris Hogan Founder and CEO of Me Media. It's time to get fact up.
Today, I'm gonna be sharing with you some of the content that I've discovered during my travels in the last week or so. And it's absolutely awesome. So, stay tuned. You're gonna love it. So, I've been hearing lots of awesome stuff in the content marketing world. So, today I want to share with you a winning content marketing strategy that we've devised based on our recent experience and some global entrepreneurs that have been sharing their experiences.
My most recent trip was to Sydney for the 10th annual Search Marketing Summit, previously known as the Search Marketing Expo, or SMX. 2016 marks the ninth time I've attended this event. Ad so, it's like catching up with industry peers on what's been happening in our arena. So, I just wanted to take a quick moment to give a brief shout out to Barry Smith, Lisa Davis, and the awesome Search Marketing Summit team for organizing our excellent bunch of international top quality speakers. We'll see you next year for sure.
So, as mentioned, I want to center today's topic around content marketing. There were heaps of speakers, but I felt two of the speakers absolutely nailed it and kept it really simple for everybody to understand. They came up with two different strategies, which work really well with one of our strategies. So, we've turned that into a winning free step content marketing strategy just for you.
So, those two speakers that I thought delivered absolutely awesome simplified content was Jeremy Cabral from finder.com, based here in Australia, and Dennis Yu from Blitzmetrics, a Facebook Guru based in the U.S.A. We've included links to their profiles here in the blog, so you can link up with them and hear it from the horses mouth. So, Jeremy had plenty to say about content marketing. Dennis Yu had similar stuff to say about content marketing as well as awesome social media targeting. Combine that with our recent discoveries in the content marketing arena. And we feel we've got the best content marketing strategy just for you. So, let's get started.
Jeremy's simplest and most impactful idea was producing 10 times content. That is, if you're going to be creating content, it better be 10 times better than anything else out there in the market place on the same topic. So, this could be as simple as taking an existing research study and turning it into an infographic. Similarly, taking a blog and turning it into an infographic or a video. Yes, this first step does require some research. But we don't want to get bogged down in the nitty gritty. Just focus on 10 times better, and that's your number one step in your winning content marketing strategy.
Now, the best type of content to create is a resource, something that is invaluable, a tool, an infographic, something that really resonates really well with your potential customer and absolutely pins you as the number one authority on the topic. You might go so far as to create a piece of software, a calculator, or maybe something they even receive in the mail. Take it outside of the square guys. And remember, 10 times better.
And the third component shared by Dennis Yu was that the content should ideally stroke somebody or some brain's ego. The best way to do that is to mention them, tag them, and tug them via social media. Simple. Right? Three steps: 10 times best content, resource, and make sure you're stroking somebody or some brain's ego. Connect with them socially. Get it in their inbox, or get it to their influences. It is that simple. So, it's time for us to give you a really brief example from our very own Get Back Up series. If we roll back to episode 29, the neto, shopify, big commerce reviews. We produced 10 times best content on the internet right now via video. And the result, this particular video received the greatest amount of views, generated the greatest amount of traffic to our website out of all the Get Back Up episodes and generated the greatest amount of leads from Me Media. How cool is that?
So, now that Jeremy, Dennis Yu, and Me Media have done all of the testing so that all you need to do is implement it. Really, guys, you have no excuse. Get cracking. We love your feedback. Thanks so much for watching. Thanks for all your great comments in email, social. Thanks for your sharing. You guys have kept us alive. We're absolutely gonna be here all year long. We love sharing. And see ya next week. Yee-haw!
